Success

Once upon a time long ago there lived a young man who set out one day to find out what he wanted to be when he grew up. He visited a nearby castle where the grounds keepers were out working in the sun. He asked the workers if they enjoyed getting to watch what they planted growing into beautiful scenery. They all moaned about how hard it was toiling in the heat and they complained of the long hours. The boy then set out to find someone who liked what they did. He passed a messenger and asked if it was exciting to see the look on the recipient’s face. He told the boy about having to walk for miles without a drink and how many folks wouldn’t pay him after he delivered their message. The day stretched on until it was getting to be time to go home and still he hadn’t found a soul who liked their work. Then the boy happened upon a man who was playing music and singing to no one there. The boy looked down into the minstrel’s cup and it was half empty. There’s no need to ask him thought the boy but he went ahead and asked anyway. To his surprise the man spoke gratefully about how he loved his line of work and how he wouldn’t trade it for anything. The boy inquired,” But what about the long hours and the hot sun?” The man replied that he hadn’t noticed. Then the boy asked, “What about the people who listened but left without an offering?” to which the man replied that it didn’t matter to him. He was going to practice anyway.
The moral of the story is it’s not how easy a job is or how much money you make that defines your success but rather if you find something you enjoy doing for a living. So if you find work for which you have a passion then you will be successful.

Loneliness

I couldn’t help but notice you were lonely
Though you tried with every trick to hide the tears
So deep in your face was this lonesome place
That couldn’t be erased by all the years

At first you were too shy to show an interest
A captive of your deeply seated fears
Then finally we spoke in the silence that we broke
Lay the cloak and dagger drama as it nears

Are we capturing the moments as they gather
With an open heart and mind and open ears
Or have I captured you
And we don’t know what to do
As the end of all we have bitterly nears

So take me as I am or go your own way
To each his own a different drummer hears
But if you want to try then don’t let a good thing die
And then I will climb atop the highest piers

For Brandy

Eyes of fire that glow so green
Most beautiful I’ve ever seen
Ice cream skin that melts my will
Hands of strength yet gentile still
Sagacity to calm the wise
Two moons tonight are in the skies

Ginger hair entwines the soul
One touch truly takes its toll
Firm and lean with endless charms
Forever take me in your arms
Feel my love begin to rise
Two moons tonight are in the skies

Freckled face kissed by the sun
I want to kiss them one by one
Blue jean dreams come loose and tight
Chemise that makes me see the light
Just one glance will hypnotize
Two moons tonight are in the skies

Sail us cross the Milky Way
Stars will vanish where we lay
Let us consummate our love
In the heavens up above
Maybe then you’ll realize
Two moons tonight are in the skies

Forever Here

Everything is everywhere
Forever here
Nothing goes away

I feel your love it’s always there
I miss you dear
Time is all today

So I keep on thinking that you might come see me
If I speak to you will my thoughts just float away
Or could it be that yesterday is really tomorrow
And everything that happens happens today

I don’t know why we feel the pain
When life is gone
Does the cycle end

There’s got to be another plane
Where life goes on
With a special Friend

Now I know that love will grow for you’re right here with me
It was always there and will never go away
So people remember the only thing that can die
Is the love you feel and show
And everything that happens happens today

One Single Tear

No sound no light
So deep in the night
You silently touch my face
This cannot be true
The image of you
So strong and full of grace
Behold your charms
Two trembling arms
Reaching to softly embrace
Collapse in the air
For no one is there
You’re gone without a trace
These dreams will stay
When I go away
You’ll find one single tear
There’s nothing else left
A true love bereft
When shed I will disappear
So take what I give
And learn how to live
With hopes that have no fear
When God has no will
I will love you still
With all my heart my dear

I'm Not Alone

You weren’t the reason for day and night
And on occasion I’d pick a fight
But now you’re gone
With the dawn’s early light
And I have no way to say it to you

Your life and mine were so intertwined
For God’s own secrets we searched to find
But now you’re gone
So I’m left behind
And I have no way to say it to you

I promise I will choose my words carefully
The pain you left inside is my own
Just tell me where to look for that old sweet smile
To show me that I’m not alone

Now go beyond the world that we see
To the One waiting for you and me
For now you’re gone
Where everyone is free
And I have no need to say it to you
